RobRoy

HIGHLY COMMENDED PROJECTS: REED SIMPSON CONSTRUCTION CC, ROB ROY LIFESTYLE VILLAGE

The project brief entailed the complete conversion of the old Rob Roy Hotel, Botha’s Hill, into apartments; including additional units added in keeping with the overall design and aesthetics of the original building. The original hotel rooms were converted into 32 independent units and 13 frail care units situated on the ground floor. The Rob Roy Hotel which dates back to 1930’s brought with it many challenges, primary of which was the lack of accurate as-built drawings. The elevation of the Rob Roy Hotel is iconic and was to be preserved at all costs, with this in mind all external works and additions had to be carried out with minimal impact of the overall elevation.
