One of the most notable of achievements is that during his term at the CETA Board, the CETA received its first unqualified audit over its 10 year lifespan. Various initiatives that enhanced Corporate Governance at the CETA were implemented during this time under his leadership. Gavin was instrumental in unblocking the challenges at the CETA by bringing together the fragmented employer bodies to determine common objectives despite the lifelong deep-seated entrenched differences.
Another notable achievement was when as Chairperson of the Building Construction Standards Generating Body (SGB), over 20 new stand alone Qualifications were introduced into the Building Industry under the guidance of SAQA. Today there are thousands of Artisans in the Country who are recognised by these Qualifications and are thankfully remunerated accordingly and not just as General Workers or Operators as in the past.
"Gavin Strydom, Chief Executive Officer of Edstan Group of Companies, we salute you Sir, by formerly recognising your outstanding contribution to the Association and the industry." Vikashnee Harbhajan
