New Ward: “Wagon wheel” design resulting in extensive circular on-plan construction. Constricted work area. Construction work could not disrupt the operation of the existing hospital in any way.
Foundations: CFA pressure grouted piles, RC pile caps and RC ground beams.
Superstructure: Load-bearing brickwork. RC slabs.
Roof: RC flat roof. Finishes and specialist installations as per standard health facility requirements.
Parking Deck: Pinned design of the RC columns. RC columns required propping until the completion of the entire deck. The rake (fall) of the existing parking deck on top of which the new deck was constructed as well as the fall of the new deck resulted in formwork design challenges. RC construction on top existing RC parking deck.
