
WINNER: TOYOTA HINO
Stefanutti Stocks were awarded the civil and building works contract to modify the existing Toyota South Africa Motors PTY Ltd (TSAM) parts warehouse on Joyner Rd in Prospecton, Durban. The purpose of the project was to relocate the Toyota Hino truck plant into the new facility. The project scope included extensions to the existing warehouse (the assembly area being 850m2 and the logistics area being 1200m2), modifications to the columns and trusses inside the warehouse and 2 new buildings of 250m2 and 300m2.
There were also upgrades to the stormwater management system with 2 new attenuation tanks as well as reshaping 6800m2 of tarred areas around the facility. The lighting, small power, ventilation and fire protection were also included in the scope.
Both the Assembly and Logistics buildings where constructed from piled foundations with a structural steel frame and clad in industrial 7 sheeting with a 1.2 m high plastered brick wall at surface bed level. The Spray and FBO buildings where similar, but had reinforced concrete foundations.
The site hand-over was 1st August 2013 with completion being the 12th December 2013 with a project value of R29 million
