The structure is a 360m2 Light Steel frame building comprising 4 bedrooms, study, 3 bathrooms, lounge, kitchen, dining room and a triple garage, built on a Game Estate on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg, KZN. Total contract value ± R1.9 mil excluding VAT.
The complete construction of the dwelling is in light weight steel frame system (Wall panels, roof trusses and roof panels) with colour bond corrugated iron roof sheeting. The complete residence from slab to roof, including all finishes was completed by Shospec.
HIGHLY COMMENDED: HGN PROJECTS - HOUSE 192 GARLINGTON
The soil conditions were evaluated by the engineer and it was decided to use a raft foundation with conventional building methods with maxi brick and plastered walls. The double storey slab was block and lintel construction. The roof was conventional truss with chromadek sheeting. The doors and windows were aluminium with “low e” glass. The client chose a vinyl laminate flooring downstairs and carpet and tiles upstairs.
