HIGHLY COMMENDED: D CONSTRUCTION - PROVIMI PREMIX FACTORY
The scope of work on this project was to construct a new feed mill plant and road works for Provimi. The first part of the project had extensive earthworks to create platforms as well as excavations for storm water and sewerage. A key concern was the 7m deep excavation for the basement pit. The floors were a raft system with power floated surface beds upon which a steel structure was erected. Then there was a 25m high production plant erected which was roofed and clad in refrigeration panelling for temperature control including fireproofing of several internal walls. The upper level floors were constructed of steel plating for surfaces while external roadways were concrete. Attenuation tanks were constructed due to the size of the site while also included in the project was the building of a guard house and ablution block.
