The Department of Labour on 28 November 2016 introduced a "Prosecution Register".

DOL Chief Inspector Tibor Szana said "DoL OHS prosecution register now gone public and will be updated periodically".

Although this is a first for South Africa other counties such as the UK have been doing it for years. The Health and Safety Executive in the UK are leaders when it comes to notifying the general public of health and safety contraventions and prosecutions.

The South African Prosecution Register will indicate the date the case was finalised, whether it was a fatality or not, who the employer was, acts and regulations contravened, outcome of the case (guilty or not), inspector's name and province. It does not stipulate the fine.
