The Association is frequently requested to provide advice on interpretation of contractual clauses pertaining to payment. When the Association offered members a free subscription to BuildLaw, it was envisaged that the platform would serve as an online resource to help members interpret the various clauses in contracts and to provide easy access to templates for various notices that members may require. To take this a step further, BuildLaw have offered to present a short webinar for Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal subscribers on how to maximise benefits from the facility. BuildLaw will also be hosting contractual workshops free of charge to members in the coming months. There will be workshops specifically aimed at subcontractors, so look out for the various invites.
Members are also reminded that that the Association will be holding a workshop on the POPI Act on 14 June at 13H00 online via the MS Teams platform. If you wish to participate and have not already notified us, please feel free to contact our offices for further information.
Members are warned to be proactive with respect to preventing cybercrime. A Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal member recently reported that fraudsters intercepted an email invoice and redirected their client’s payment in excess of R100,000. IT security is of the utmost importance and our members are urged to implement tighter security measures to protect their businesses.
With the Adjusted Alert Level 2 restrictions, members are reminded that the Association has an online COVID-19 Web Portal where members can download various resources to assist with COVID-19 protocol, which includes the Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal COVID-19 site induction video.
